Content Editor, the "Heart" of XMS-Systems

The heart of any content management system is the "editor".  It needs to be user friendly and the GUI needs to be familiar to the desktop applications that we all use on a daily basis.

The editor window is huge to allow you to easily edit the content.

Toolbar

For starters, the "Toollbar" includes all the tools that you are used to while using any of the popular desktop applications.

This includes functions like:

• Spell Checking
• Full Screen Editing
• Uploading of images, documents and flash
• Access to templates to make it easy to have the same layout on all the pages
• Raw HTML code view and edit for the more advanced user
  

Hover the mouse over any of the icons will give you a "Tool-Tip" to help you in choosing the proper tool.

Remote File Explorer

The remote file explorer allows you to upload media files including images, flash and documents and includes the following functionality

• Create and Delete Folders
• Upload and Delete of media files
• Access to image manipulation application
  

Remote Image Manipulation

Image manipulation is a breeze and can be accessed from within the Remote File Explorer or by right-click on the image once it is inserted in the editor.

When you right-click in an image in the Remote File Explorer and select "Insert Thumbnail", a new window will open up to allow you to define the size of the thumbnail.  Accepting the settings will create a thumbnail and automatically create the relevant code to open the original "large" image in a window, complete with the script to automatically close the window by clicking on the image.

HTML Tag Property Inspector

A Property Inspector is included at the bottom of the editor window where any of the normal HTML properties of any HTML tag can be edited and you can fine-tune the look of any element with ease and a little practise and experimentation will reveal the true power of the editor.

For the advanced users an icon is located on the tool bar that allows you to switch between WYSIWYG and Code view.

This will allow you to view and edit the code directly in raw HTML.

Page Layout Controls

This is one of the functions of XMS-Systems that we are particular proud of.

It allows you to easily expand the page you are editing to include a column on either the Left hand side, Right Hand side or on both sides of the page.

The columns can typically include some ad code but with a bit of clever use of the code blocks you can use any HTML tags to add custom content on the page without changing the rest of the page layout.

In the example above we have a Google Ad block defined on the left of the page with an extra column on the right with HTML code in it.
